Meeting notes
Record a Google Meet, a Zoom call, or an in-person meeting and get a transcript and takeaways in a conversation.
Meetings that happen outside Naumu - a Google Meet, a Zoom call, a chat around a table - can still end up in your space. You record the meeting, and Naumu turns it into a transcript you can read, replay, and ask questions about.

Record from any conversation
This works on every device, in the browser and in the desktop app.
- Open a conversation, or start a new one.
- With the message box empty, click the microphone button (Record voice message).
- Let it run. You can type your own notes in the message box while it records.
- Click the send button. The recording and your notes go out as one message.
To check the recording first, click the stop button instead, listen back, then send. The X discards it.
You can leave the conversation while recording. A red Recording pill in the sidebar shows the timer and takes you back.
An audio file you drop into a conversation is transcribed the same way.
Recordings stop at 8 hours (about an hour and a half on Free) and keep what they captured.
Capture both sides of a call
A browser can only hear your microphone. The desktop app on Mac and Windows also records system audio - what comes out of your speakers - so the people on the other end of a call are in the recording too.
System audio is on by default in the desktop app on Mac and Windows. While recording, the speaker button in the recording row switches it on or off. The first time, macOS asks for permission: allow Naumu under Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
Let Naumu notice the meeting
You do not have to remember to press record. When a call app starts using your microphone, the desktop app on a Mac shows a small floating pill at the top of your screen: Transcribe in [space], the name of the app it detected, and a Start button.
- Check the space. Click its name in the pill to pick a different one for this meeting.
- Click Start. Recording begins in the background with your microphone and system audio. No window opens.
- Have your meeting. Recording stops by itself about 20 seconds after the call app lets go of your microphone.
- When the transcript and Naumu's takeaways are in, the pill comes back with Open meeting note.
Nothing is recorded until you press Start - or, if you turned on Auto-record all meetings (off by default), until a 10-second countdown ends. By starting, you confirm you will collect consent from everyone in the meeting.
Detection covers Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack, Discord, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and calls that run in a browser, such as Google Meet.
To skip a meeting, click the X or ignore the pill - it hides after a minute. Don't ask for [app] again turns the offer off for that app.
Meeting settings
In the desktop app, open Settings → Notifications and find Meetings:
- Meeting detection - turn the pill on or off.
- Auto-record all meetings - the pill counts down 10 seconds, then starts by itself.
- Default space - where meeting notes go. Left on Last active space, the pill follows the space you have open.
- Excluded apps - apps the pill never appears for.
Start from the menu bar
On Mac and Windows, the Naumu icon in your menu bar or system tray works without a detected meeting. Choose Start meeting note, pick a space, and recording starts right away. Stop transcribing ends it. If recording can't start, for example because Naumu isn't allowed to record system audio, Naumu tells you why, even while its window is hidden. The transcript
A sent recording shows Transcribing audio, then a card with a one-line summary, the number of speakers, and the length. Click the card to open the full transcript.
- Speakers - the transcript is split by speaker, each with their own avatar. Recordings of huddles show real names.
- Click to jump - click any line to play the recording from that moment. While it plays, the transcript follows along.
- Playback speed - click the speed chip on the player to cycle 1×, 1.5×, and 2×. Your choice applies to every recording on that device.
- Resume - a recording longer than a minute remembers where you stopped on that device.
If a transcription fails, or comes back as No speech detected, click Retry.
Naumu reads the transcript too, so you can ask about the meeting in the same conversation. If no reply from Naumu is on its way, your recording's card shows an Analyze button that asks for one.
Where it lands and who sees it
- Recorded in a conversation - the recording is a message in that conversation, and whoever can see the conversation can play it and read the transcript.
- Started from the pill or the menu bar - Naumu creates a new conversation in the space you picked, shared with everyone in that space, and replies in it with the takeaways.
The pill and the menu bar only offer spaces where you can start a conversation for the whole space.
