Can I turn off the AI?
Not today - the AI is what links your information together. But you never have to talk to it: chats, notes, tasks and nodes all work by hand, and Naumu stays quiet until you call it in.
Short answer: no, the AI cannot be disabled, removed, or turned off in Naumu as of today. There is no per-space setting, no organization-wide policy, and no admin or MDM switch for it. If you need a product where AI is hard-disabled for your whole organization, Naumu is not that product right now.
Here is why, and what you can control instead.
Why it can't be switched off
The AI is not a chat feature bolted onto Naumu - it is the thing that links all your information together. It picks out the people, projects and decisions from what your team writes, files them as connected nodes in your memory, keeps summaries and search up to date, and answers questions grounded in that memory. Without it, a space is a folder of disconnected text.
So there is no "strip down Naumu to just a todo list or notes without AI" mode. Every plan, including the free one, runs with the AI present.
You never have to talk to it
Having the AI present does not mean it talks to you. In practice most of the day it stays silent:
- Team chats work like a normal chat. In any thread with more than one person, Naumu stays quiet until someone @mentions it. People just converse; you call the AI in only when something needs to be done - "@Naumu turn this into tasks", "@Naumu what did we decide last week". The Naumu will reply chip above the composer always shows whether the next message gets an AI answer, and you can switch auto-reply off for any thread. See Ask Naumu.
- Nothing changes without your say-so. When the AI proposes an edit to your memory it shows the change for you to accept or reject first. It never rewrites your space on its own.
- You can work entirely by hand. Create and edit nodes, write notes, manage tasks in views and organize topics directly, with no AI involved.
- Automations are optional. Every scheduled task can be paused or deleted, and the built-in checks on the Naumu agent can be disabled. Delete the extra agents you don't want.
If you still need AI off
